Andy Lee R33 GTR RWD

Hi, my names Andy and I completed the Cannonball8000, London to Budapest in my custom built Nissan Skyline R33 GTR replica. Most of the panels, running gear and engine were supplied by Sajid at JapPerformanceParts. The run was over 1300 miles of autobahns and motorways in three days with 5 star hotels, at three stops.. The fastest stretch for us was in Slovakia where we held 160mph for an hour and a half, and managed to practically empty the tank!. We came 30th out of 120 Lambos,Ferrari’s and Porsche’s. The Car started life as a R33 GTS 2.0 non turbo. I fitted full GTR front end and welded in the GTR rear wings. GTR rear spoiler, side skirts, clocks and GTSt brakes where added. I used a RB26DETT, which was supplied by Sajid. It came with Wiring loom, Ecu, Alternator,Steering pump, Turbos and Down pipe. I mated this with a GTS turbo gearbox and propshaft. For the final drive I opted for a 200sx, S14 diff. It had the same final ratios as a GTR, which would give us a greater top speed. The rear subframe had to be modified slightly to except this Diff, it held up well and coped with the 350bhp that the engine was putting out. On the way back I stopped at the Nurburgring for a few laps before returning home. The engine didn’t miss a beat all the way round, Big thanks to Sajid for supplying a quality lump. I am building another GTR for the 2008 run to Croatia, this time I am using a R33 GTR V-spec shell that Sajid sourced. This one is going to be sponsored by Japperformance and will have logos down the car. Really looking forward to doing this run again, any car is welcome on the run so why not give it a go ! Andy.
